Moscow: Russia says more than 1,000 Ukrainian troops have surrendered in Mariupol. Mariupol is a strategic port city in eastern Ukraine. Russian forces have been besieging more than a thousand Ukrainian troops here for more than a month. Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Wednesday it had surrendered. The ministry said 1,026 Ukrainian soldiers from the 36th Marine Brigade in the city of Mariupol surrendered voluntarily.
