Sreeja Ravi is a dubbing artist who has given voice to more than 125 heroines. Sreeja entered the dubbing industry by giving voice to young children and later to Rohini, Sunitha, Ranjini, Anju, Maatu, Charmila, Monisha, Manju Warrier, Roma, Kavya Madhavan, Samyuktha Verma, Bhavana, Divya Unni, Juhi Chawla, Katrina Kaif and Nayanthara. Sreeja’s career took a break when she voiced Shalini in Aniyathipravu. Before Shalini became the heroine, Sreeja also provided the voice when she was Baby Shalini.
Sreeja’s daughter Raveena is also active in the dubbing industry. Sreeja talks about missing the opportunity to take Raveena to the dubbing studio. Sreeja shares her experiences in an interview with Behind the Woods.
‘I was the one who gave voice to Nayanthara from the back of my mind to my bodyguard. So when I went to dub Bhaskar’s The Rascal, Mol came with me. Siddiqui called me and I went to dub.
Nayanthara returns after a period of time. So looking at their personality is pretty cool, and when I saw that I felt like the sound of my mole fitting into their getup better than I did. Her voice is youthful, and her voice is a little more polished, not to mention my daughter’s. She has an educated way of tone. My voice is a lot different from hers.
So I told Siddiqui that I would try the sound of a mole. Her voice would be a little better for Nayantara’s current personality and style. Then he said, “Oh, sis, that’s not right, she’s the mother of a child, she needs some maturity, she’s a baby.
Then I was told to take a test and look. So he told me to dub a scene and come and see. So I dubbed it with a scene mole and he came and said goodbye.
