Johnson Named Newcomer of the Year
Abraham Johnson, a talented track and field jumper, has been honored with the EIU Male Newcomer of the Year award, capping off an impressive freshman season.
- Abraham Johnson placed ninth in the nation in the triple jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- He earned USTFCCCA All-America honors.
- johnson was also the OVC champion in the triple jump during the outdoor season.
- During the indoor season, he was named the OVC co-Freshman of the Year.
Eastern Illinois track and field athlete Abraham Johnson has been recognized as the EIU Male newcomer of the Year. His impressive performance at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, were he secured a ninth-place finish in the triple jump, earned him the prestigious award, a testament to his dedication and skill.
NCAA Championship Performance
At the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Johnson’s second prelim jump covered an impressive 52’4.25″, securing his place in the finals. That jump became his best mark of the championship meet,showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
