Can you now create pictures using AI right in WhatsApp? Yes, users can now harness ChatGPT to create and edit images directly within the popular messaging app. This integration allows users to generate images and modify existing ones without ever leaving the WhatsApp interface.
The announcement follows the addition of a Meta AI button, which some users found intrusive.
“Why do they have to slap that stuff on everything?” said Reddit user Special-Oil-7447. “I’m in the EU and it’s just been dumped on me. I am going to uninstall WhatsApp today after I have loaded Signal. Vote with your feet people”, said user BrainCell 7.
Despite user feedback, the Meta AI button remains, but it’s not the only AI chatbot available.
How to Access ChatGPT
Accessing ChatGPT for image generation in WhatsApp is straightforward. You can now use ChatGPT to generate AI images right inside WhatsApp. You can even upload a picture and get the AI to edit it, all from within WhatsApp.

Simply add ChatGPT as a contact using the number 1-800-CHATGPT (1-800-242-8478). If you’re outside the US, you’ll need to add them as a US contact.
To create an image, start a chat with ChatGPT and type, “Create an image of…” followed by details. For image editing, tap the + button, select Photos, upload the image, and describe the desired edits using natural language.
If you have a Plus account, WhatsApp will provide a link if you reach your free limit so you can get more images.
