Belgrade is off the hook. Serbia was threatened with energy supply bottlenecks because of the EU sanctions against Russia, because the EU prohibited transactions with certain state-owned Russian companies in the fourth sanctions package. The operator of the Croatian oil pipeline Janaf then announced that deliveries to the Serbian oil company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) would be suspended in mid-May. Namely, Russia’s Gazprom Neft owns a 56.15 percent stake in NIS.
