Chennai: On the eve of Dr. Ambedkar’s 132nd birthday, Chief Minister MK Stalin took the oath of office on the occasion of Equality Day. On the occasion of Ambedkar’s 132nd birthday, Chief Minister MK Stalin paid floral tributes to Ambedkar’s film at Anna Arivalayam. Following this, Chief Minister MK Stalin visited the Ambedkar Mani Mandapam at RA Puram, Chennai and paid floral tributes to the Ambedkar statue there.

Ministers Ponmudi, EV Velu, Saminathan, Kayalvizhi Selvaraj, A.Rasa MP, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader Tol. Thirumavalavan, Chief Secretary His Holiness and officials were present. Meanwhile, Chief Minister MK Stalin announced at the assembly that Ambedkar’s birthday, April 14, would be celebrated as ‘Equality Day’. Following this, the Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order regarding the pledge. Accordingly, Chief Minister MK Stalin went to the General Secretariat to take the language of the Equality Day commitment.

There under his leadership government officials took the Equality Day Pledge for the first time. ” On the birthday of Anand Ambedkar, who gave birth to a lifelong voice against caste discrimination and social oppression in the name of caste, for the rights of the marginalized and for the equality of the oppressed, and for a lifetime to raise awareness about the rights of the common people, to establish a society without caste differences, All of us took the Pledge of Allegiance on the basis of our sincere commitment that we will all strive, that we will never identify our fellow human beings in the name of caste, and that we will uphold equality with our fellow human beings throughout our lives.
It is noteworthy that the language of commitment to Equality Day was similarly adopted in all government offices in Tamil Nadu.
