Oppo A57 5G launched with Dimensity 810 and 5000mAh battery

by time news

Oppo may be busy preparing for the upcoming Oppo Reno 8 series. Meanwhile, you also need to pay attention to the upcoming launch of OnePlus, as the two companies are basically the same now. However, the company still finds some time to reveal a new budget device for the Oppo A series. Today, the company has introduced the Oppo A57 5G phone which offers great specs at an affordable price. It has a budget 5G SoC but is at least more ready for 2022 than other devices that ship with older chips.

Oppo A57 5G phone specifications

Oppo A57 5G brings MediaTek Dimensity 810, which is a replacement for MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. It has higher clock speeds and a more efficient 6nm architecture. The phone is paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of the basic version. However, there is also an option with 8GB of RAM. It’s interesting to see Oppo offer high RAM offerings when many companies are still sticking with 4GB of RAM for the base models. Anyway, the 6GB RAM variant has faster UFS 2.2 storage. To bring in 8GB of RAM, the company cut storage corners with the UFS 2.1 standard. If you need more storage, you can also put in a micro SD card.

The phone features a 6.56 inch LCD screen with a water drop notch. The screen is HD + with a resolution of 1,612 x 720 pixels. The good part is that the board refreshes at 90Hz. This may not seem like a big deal in 2022, but there are still phones with 60Hz panels, especially in the budget class. The screen also offers a wide color gamut with 100% sRGB coverage in normal mode and 100% DCI-P3 in Vivid mode. Brightness is unchanged at 480 nits of typical brightness.

In terms of optics, not much has changed in the phone. Oppo A57 5G offers a simple camera setup with a 13MP main camera on the back with f/2.2 aperture. There is also a 2-megapixel depth sensor to help with portrait shots. The notch serves as the home for an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Video recording is specified in 1080p at 30 frames per second.

The Oppo A57 5G runs Android 12 operating system right out of the box, which is another big plus. It derives its power from a 5000 mAh battery. However, charging has been restricted to 10W which is much lower than usual nowadays. The phone has stereo speakers, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Pricing and availability

The phone is available for pre-order in China. The variant with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage costs 1,500 CNY (about $235).
