The Middle East’s first successful demonstration of six-component carrier (6CC) aggregation in 5G Standalone (SA) means faster downloads; so, what does 6CC aggregation mean for 5G? This advancement unlocks multi-gigabit peak throughput rates.

5G network technology is advancing rapidly.

Nokia, e& UAE, and MediaTek have announced a significant milestone, achieving the Middle East’s first successful demonstration of six-component carrier (6CC) aggregation in 5G Standalone (SA). This collaboration combined 400 MHz of e& UAE’s 5G mid-band spectrum. Imagine downloading UHD movies in mere seconds! For e& UAE, this solidifies its position as the world’s fastest mobile network.

Did you know?-The term “multi-gigabit” refers to data transfer speeds exceeding one gigabit per second. This is significantly faster than typical home broadband speeds.

The technical details

The trial leveraged e& UAE’s commercial spectrum across 3.5 GHz, 2.6 GHz,2.1 GHz and 1.8 GHz bands, delivering a throughput of 5.8 Gbps. Nokia provided its high-capacity AirScale equipment, including Habrok 64 Massive MIMO radios, dual-band radios, baseband solutions, and carrier aggregation software. MediaTek supplied a prototype smartphone powered by its flagship 5G chipset, supporting 6CC carrier aggregation.

Rapid fact: 6CC aggregation combines multiple frequency bands to increase data throughput and network capacity.

Reader question:-How will these faster 5G speeds impact everyday applications like video conferencing and online gaming?
