Theni – LS Mills Basketball Association, Theni – Chennai Japier College, Chennai and SRM, University won the men’s and women’s basketball finals respectively. The competition took place in the league, quarterfinals and semifinals. Chennai SRM, University beat Vaishnava College 61:45 in the women’s final yesterday to clinch the title. The highest scorer was SRM, University team player Harshita with 21 points. Vaishnava College and University of Wales came in second and third respectively. In the men’s category, Chennai Japier College defeated Satyabhama University 71:61 to clinch the title. Satyabhama University’s Alvin Bazil top scored with 22 points. Satyabhama College came second and Chennai MCC College team came third. Theni SP, Praveen Umesh Tongre, Municipal Chairman Renupriya Koppa presented prizes to the winning teams. LS Mills, Managing Director Manivannan, Co-Managing Director Prabhakaran, District Basketball Association Secretary Aswin Nanda, Theni Nadar Relations General Secretary Rajamohan and Dr. Prabhu were present.
