Bolsonaro Cancels Schedule Amid Renewed Health Concerns

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has canceled his public engagements this week due to illness, raising fresh questions about his health. The former leader, who experienced visible distress during public appearances in June, cited bouts of sobbing and vomiting as preventing him from speaking and fulfilling his commitments.

Bolsonaro, affiliated with the PL (Liberal Party), informed parliamentarians of his decision to forgo meetings and visits, specifically canceling a planned trip to the party’s headquarters on Tuesday, July 2nd. “By medical requirement I will not go to PL on Tuesday. Crisis of sobs and vomiting keep me from talking. Thank you,” he stated in a message to colleagues, as reported by CNN Brazil.

Recent Health Episodes

This latest cancellation follows a pattern of recent health concerns. According to CNN Brazil, Bolsonaro first felt unwell on Monday, July 1st, and has been advised by medical professionals to refrain from scheduled activities through Wednesday.

The former president’s health was publicly scrutinized on June 20th during an event at a refrigeration facility in Goiânia, Goiás. Witnesses reported he appeared visibly unwell, offering limited remarks before abruptly departing after less than 20 minutes. A scheduled lunch in Anápolis was subsequently abandoned as he returned directly to Brasília.

Prior to the Goiás incident, Bolsonaro experienced an emotional moment at the Aparecida de Goiânia City Council, where his speech was interrupted by uncontrollable sobbing.

The situation underscores a recurring theme of health challenges for the former president, prompting speculation about the underlying causes and potential impact on his future political activities.
