Chennai: The Chennai Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Salem, Namakkal, Trichy and Perambalur districts.
Chennai Meteorological Center Director Senthamarai Kannan said in a statement that light to moderate rain with thundershowers will occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Karaikal today (Apr. 18) due to downward circulation and heat wave over the coastal areas of northern Tamil Nadu. Salem, Namakkal, Trichy and Perambalur districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy showers. .
Apr. 19: Light to moderate showers with thundershowers will occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Karaikal. Heavy showers are likely in the south-east, delta districts and adjoining districts and Karaikal.
For Chennai, the sky will be partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. There may be light rain in a few places in the city. The maximum temperature will be around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 28 degrees Celsius. The maximum rainfall during the last 24 hours was 7 cm each at Thiyakadurgam (Kallakurichi), Choolankurichi (Kallakurichi), Puduchathram (Namakkal), Rameswaram (Ramanathapuram), Bhavani (Erode) and Kalayanallur (Kallakurichi) at 6 cm each. No warning for fishermen. Thus stated in it.
