Alabama Municipal Elections: Voter Registration Deadline Approaching on August 11th

Voters in Alabama have until August 11th to register for the upcoming municipal elections on August 26th. Registration can be completed online or in person, ensuring broad access to participation in local governance. This deadline is crucial for residents wishing to influence the direction of their communities.

Registration Details and Locations

Unregistered voters can easily sign up to vote at alabamavotes.gov. Alternatively, registration is available at the Pike County Board of Registrars office, located in the basement of the Pike County Courthouse at 120 R. Church St., Troy. This dual approach aims to maximize voter accessibility and participation.

Troy City Council Races

In Troy, the mayoral position and four of the five city council seats will be filled without opposition. The only contested race within the city will be for the District 5 council seat, where incumbent Wanda Moultry will face challenges from Glenda Fayson and Carl Hollis. This single race represents the primary point of contention for voters in Troy.

Brundidge Mayoral and Council Elections

Brundidge will see a more competitive election cycle, with challenges to the mayoral position and several council seats. Only one council seat in Brundidge is expected to be unchallenged. Isabell “Fronnie” Boyd, the current mayor, will be contested by Anthony Foster, Mike McNally, Eric T. Spitzer, and Henry Wilson.

District-Level Contests in Brundidge

Several districts within Brundidge will also feature competitive races:

  • District 1: Dixie Shehane and Arlen Sneed are vying for the seat currently held by Gerald Holland.
  • District 2: Incumbent Latisher Picket Hall will be challenged by Marla “Molly” Boykin, Alexandria Griffin, and James Rode.
  • District 3: Margaret Ross, the current councilmember, faces a challenge from Henry “Hendock” Everett.
  • District 5: Incumbent Marilyn “Munchie” Rodgers will compete against James “Sid” Joes and Ira Lampley.

Unopposed Incumbent in Troy’s District 4

In Troy’s District 4, incumbent Byron Gaynor has already been re-elected without opposition, a decision confirmed by the city council earlier in July 2025. This demonstrates a strong level of confidence in his leadership from within the local government.

The upcoming municipal elections present a vital opportunity for Alabama residents to shape the future of their communities. With the voter registration deadline fast approaching on August 11th, eligible citizens are encouraged to register and participate in this important civic process.
