Morocco’s RNI Party Affirms Economic Resilience, Calls for Gaza Action & Judicial Reform

Morocco’s National Independent Rally (RNI) convened on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Rabat to address a range of critical national and international issues, reaffirming its commitment to economic stability, the Moroccan Sahara, and humanitarian concerns. The meeting, chaired by Aziz Akhannouch, also focused on internal party organization and the government’s recent legislative achievements.

Economic Performance & Royal Initiatives

A key focus of the political bureau meeting was a positive assessment of the government’s performance, particularly the resilience of the national economy despite a challenging global landscape. Officials highlighted several key indicators, including a 4.8% economic growth rate in the first quarter of 2025, a decrease in inflation to under 1%, and a GDP exceeding $150 billion for the first time. The budget deficit is also projected to be reduced to 3.5% by year-end.

“These figures demonstrate the effectiveness of the government’s policies and its commitment to sustainable economic development,” a senior official stated.

The RNI also emphasized the consolidation of macroeconomic balances alongside the implementation of significant royal projects, notably those focused on establishing a robust social state. The party believes that continued economic and social progress must be coupled with ongoing reflection on the core values underpinning Moroccan society.

Western Sahara & International Relations

The political bureau reiterated its strong support for King Mohammed VI’s leadership in international relations, particularly concerning the Moroccan Sahara. The party underscored the growing international recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the region and the increasing support for the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty as a viable solution to the decades-long dispute.

The RNI highlighted the importance of definitively resolving this regional conflict, viewing the current trajectory as a positive step toward that goal.

Condemnation of Gaza Violence & Humanitarian Aid

The RNI strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. Echoing the calls of King Mohammed VI, president of the Al-Quds committee, the party stressed the urgent need for international action to protect civilians and ensure the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to the affected population.

Legislative Achievements & Judicial Reform

The political bureau praised the government’s approach to closing the legislative year, acknowledging the constructive role played by the RNI’s parliamentary groups and the collaborative spirit between executive and legislative branches. Significant reforms were spotlighted, particularly the comprehensive overhaul of the judicial system following the adoption of new codes of civil and criminal procedure.

These reforms are expected to strengthen the independence of the judiciary, improve the efficiency of legal processes, promote human rights, and modernize judicial administration. The recent adoption of a law relating to alternative penalties, set to take effect in August, was also lauded for its potential to facilitate the reintegration of offenders and alleviate prison overcrowding.

Party Organization & Citizen Engagement

Internally, the RNI celebrated the success of its ongoing discussion tours, including the “Massar Al Injazat” initiative, which has been conducted in four regions to date and will continue through the start of the next political school year. The party also acknowledged the positive momentum generated by its parallel structures.

The RNI emphasized the importance of continued communication with citizens, asserting that organizational development based on proximity, dialogue, and active listening is central to supporting the country’s structural reforms and bolstering the stability of the Moroccan political model.

The meeting also served as a reminder of the upcoming 26th anniversary of the enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, a national holiday viewed as an opportunity to reaffirm allegiance to the sovereign and reflect on the nation’s achievements over the past quarter-century.
