JOHANNESBURG – Bergview Collage in the Eastern Cape has amicably parted ways with its former principal, Jaco Pieterse, who was at the center of a national rape accusation involving a seven-year-old pupil.

Bergview College and Jaco Pieterse mutually agreed to his departure, effective June 30, 2025, following his involvement in a high-profile, yet unproven, rape case.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) declined to prosecute Pieterse, citing “no conclusive evidence” of an assault on the child. This decision came after a period where the alleged incident captivated the nation.

In a letter to parents dated July 30, the school’s board of trustees confirmed the mutual separation. “A detailed interaction regarding this matter will be issued in due course,” the letter stated. The board also announced the appointment of Mr. T Cook as acting principal until December 31, 2025.During this interim period, the college will recruit a permanent principal.
