This operation, stemming from intelligence gathering, targeted sophisticated drug trafficking in the region. Authorities intercepted three individuals transferring suspicious packages.

The successful operation was the result of meticulously exploited information regarding drug trafficking activities. A patrol service, meticulously led by agents from the territorial gendarmerie brigade of Sangalkam in collaboration with the customs subdivision of Dakar-Estériur, identified a white Toyota Prado parked on a dirt track on the outskirts of Noflaye.

Investigators later observed three individuals transferring suspicious goods from the Prado into two vans, one Mercedes and one Peugeot. When confronted, two individuals fled the scene. However, a third individual was swiftly apprehended by the on-site agents.

The suspicious nature of the maneuvers at that early hour prompted customs agents and gendarmes to conduct a physical inspection of the vehicles. Inside, they discovered the 643 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs were packaged in one-kilogram sachets and then bundled into jute bags.

Following the operation, the national gendarmerie’s anti-drug group, GLAD, conducted tests on the seized products, confirming they were indeed cocaine. All the illicit goods have been confiscated, and the investigation into the trafficking ring is ongoing.
