Online Bullying and Personal Impact

“I knew that people were going to say it happened to them, too,” Hilty told a publication. “I didn’t know that people were immediately going to start also being negative.”

Hilty described the aftermath of going viral as “nonstop bullying.” She reported receiving comments urging her to harm herself and stating the world would be better off without her. This online harassment has extended to her personal life, causing friends to distance themselves out of fear of becoming entangled in the threats.

Support Amidst Criticism

Despite the severe backlash, Hilty revealed that some individuals have expressed gratitude for her sharing her story.

“To everyone from the outside looking in, it just seems like I am talking into an echo chamber,” Hilty said. “But the reality is that people are telling me that they appreciate me and that they believe me and that they are grateful for my courageousness of sharing my story.”

She also noted that long-lost connections have resurfaced, offering support. “It’s made it worth it to be the laughing stock of the internet.”

Future Plans and Content Evolution

While her TikTok series continues, Hilty has joined TikTok’s Creator Fund, capitalizing on her significant online presence. She expressed openness to her content being adapted into a TV show or film, provided it accurately represents and values her perspective.

The Psychiatrist Series Origins

The “I fell in love with my psychiatrist” series began when Hilty shared her journey of seeking treatment for ADHD. She detailed developing feelings for her psychiatrist and alleged a breach of professional boundaries. A controversial video featured her discussing her decision to stop seeing the psychiatrist and opt for ChatGPT as a replacement, raising concerns among viewers.
