Unnathi Hooda, a 14-year-old Indian badminton player, has been named in the Indian badminton team for the Asian Games.

The Thomas and Uber Cup badminton tournament takes place in Bangkok from May 8th to 15th. The Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham, England from July 28 to August 8, and the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 10 to 25.

Those in the top 15 in the rankings were directly admitted to the Indian badminton team for these three matches. For others the qualifying match was held in Delhi for 6 days. 120 players participated in 5 categories and displayed their skills. The Badminton Federation announced the Indian badminton team along with the winners yesterday.

Unnathi Hooda, a 14-year-old ‘young storm’ from Haryana, has been included in the Indian squad for the Asian Games. Saina Nehwal, ranked 23rd, was left out of the squad after being ruled out of the qualifying round.
