Italian luxury carmaker Ferrari is to recall more than 2,000 vehicles in China due to brake failure, the Chinese regulator announced on Friday.

The vehicles affected by this recall have a “risk of brake fluid leakage […]which poses a risk“Said the market regulator (SAMR).

The measure concerns 2,222 Ferraris imported between 2010 and 2019.

The Italian brand sells nearly a thousand models each year in a vast area including mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This recall will begin on May 30.

The Prancing Horse brand will replace defective parts free of charge, the regulator said. The incriminated models are 458 Italia, 458 Speciale, 458 Speciale A, 458 Spider, 488 GTB and 488 Spider.

This month is the second recall in China targeting a foreign manufacturer.

Last week, the regulator announced the recall of 128,000 Tesla, due to a failure that could lead the American electric giant’s cars to collisions.
