A 62-year-old man was killed today (Saturday) and a 30-year-old woman was seriously injured in a car accident between a motorcycle and a vehicle on Road 4 at the Shavei Zion junction heading north. MDA medics and paramedics who were called to the scene were forced to determine the man’s death, and evacuated the woman suffering from a systemic, anesthetized and respiratory injury.
Senior MDA paramedic Samih ‘Abd al-Qader and MDA paramedic Nizar Jiris said: “The two riders were lying on the road next to the motorcycle unconscious and suffering from multi-system injuries. A doctor who had an accident performed basic resuscitation on a man who had no pulse and breathing.”
“We continued the medical treatment but his injury was critical and after the resuscitation efforts his death was determined. The other rider was treated on the spot and evacuated in an intensive care unit to the hospital when her condition was serious and she was anesthetized and respirated. “The occupants of the vehicle that was involved in the accident were inspected by our crews and did not need to be evacuated to a hospital,” he added.
