The Competition Authority today raided the Wilifood offices once again. The raid, as well as the previous one carried out during the holiday on his private home, concerns an investigation into suspicions of price coordination between food importers. In any case, Wilifood denies false rumors that have been circulating in the capital market in recent days, according to which it acquired Shufersal shares.

It will be recalled that the Competition Authority has for some time been conducting an investigation against the food chains and food importers on suspicion of price coordination between them all in order not to bring down prices. Such coordination, insofar as it has been and is proven to be, is very serious and may result in criminal indictments.

More in-

Beyond the severity of the coordination itself – as it was, this type of coordination causes food prices not to fall and in fact does not reflect the benefits of imports and the benefits of deep competition that can exist in the world of retail and food imports.

We will note again that the investigation is in progress and as far as is known there is progress that has allowed the Competition Authority to proceed with the investigation and carry out further raids. In most cases, if an investigation does not yield enough evidence to commit an offense, then the investigating authority does not proceed with it, but as long as there is evidence or the beginning of evidence, it is necessary to carry out additional investigative actions that include, among other things, raids and seizure of documents and / or anything else that aids the investigation. .

At the same time, we emphasize that this is an investigation that is still ongoing.
