Since his parents separated early on, Felix has had a distant relationship with his father. It was only during therapy that he realized how much he wanted to be closer.

EOnce, Felix was maybe ten years old, his father, his sister and he baked a chocolate cake. The next day they lounged together on the terrace, the sun was shining, the view went over the small garden of the house in the north of Berlin. An idyllic morning. And then a childless friend of the father’s who didn’t get along with the siblings came by, helped herself to the cake and had an adult conversation with the father.

“That totally spoiled what was actually a beautiful family moment. My sister and I didn’t understand why he had to see this woman when we were there for once,” says Felix. “We often felt a bit out of place with him.”
