New Delhi: Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has welcomed the production of Elon Musk Tesla cars in India.
Commenting on this, Nitin Gadkari said: The Indian consumer market is huge. It is my opinion that Tesla cars get a good reception. I request Elon Musk to come to India to manufacture Tesla electric vehicles. At the same time we will not import if we think that Elon Musk can be made in China and sold in India.
More recently batteries in two-wheeled electric vehicles have been on fire due to high temperatures. To rectify this we will implement the best standards and regulatory rules for electric vehicles. Companies are advised to withdraw if there are defects in electric vehicles.
India is facing economic challenges such as high imports of essential crude oil, rising crude oil prices and the resulting environmental pollution. An alternative would be electric vehicles. Technologies and companies for making advanced quality batteries are therefore welcome. Thus he said.
