The corona pandemic and the flood of the century have claimed many victims – including animals. They were bought in lockdown and then abandoned or lost their homes in the flood.
Jana Ina (44) Zarrella, her husband Giovanni (43) and Mirja du Mont (45) stand up for precisely these animals.

As a child, the Cologne native slept in bed with his dog, and he sometimes brings a stray home with him. After graduating from high school and doing a retail apprenticeship, he travels to the USA – and there he has the idea for a discount specialist store for pet supplies.
In 1990, at the age of 24, Toeller founded his first “Fressnapf” store in Erkelenz (North Rhine-Westphalia). His parents and a bank lend him the starting capital of 200,000 marks (102,000 euros today). When that is used up, he sells his BMW, thus saving the company.
When he lowered prices and increased advertising, the business was running. There are now 1650 stores in eleven European countries.
The love for animals has always remained. With his foundation, which is run by his second wife Manuela, he helps four-legged friends in need.
