The association’s court heard a short time ago the appeal of Maccabi Haifa, on the decision to close the northern stand in the game against Maccabi Tel Aviv in about two weeks.

It will be recalled that a conditional sentence was automatically imposed against Maccabi, which was due to it for throwing objects at its fans earlier in the season, when they lit flares in the last meeting with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Bloomfield. The Greens appealed the decision on the grounds that the suspended sentence deals with fan rioting in aggravated circumstances, while lighting the torches is not considered as such, but after a three-judge hearing, the court decided not to accept the appeal and uphold the sentence.

This means that the Greens will be required to pay a fine of ten thousand shekels, and as mentioned, the Israeli Super Clasico that will bring Maccabi Haifa to Maccabi Tel Aviv will be held in the absence of the Green Encouragement Stand, a difficult issue in itself, which the Greens’ management will have to find a solution.
