Chennai: Notice from Central Goods and Services Tax Department to famous music director Ilayaraja. The notice shows that Rs 1.87 crore tax was not paid on remuneration for the year 2015-17.

Earlier, Ilayaraja had issued several summons but did not reply. The notice was issued by the GST Directorate Chennai Zonal Unit Intelligence. Ilayaraja was summoned on February 20 and March 1 to pay his tax arrears. It was suggested that Ilayaraja or his representative should produce the documents of payment of tax before March 10. The deadline was later extended to March 28. The reason for sending the notice again now is because he did not respond to any of this.

He wrote the introduction to the book ‘Reformers Ideas Performance Implementation Tuition’ published by the Bluecraft Digital Foundation in praise of the Prime Minister yesterday. It was alleged that he was trying to evade the action of the GST department.
