Patients in the neurology ward on the top floor of the warehouse that started the next fire started screaming. Doctors and paramedics were called in to help with the rescue operation. They decided to transfer patients from the neurology ward to the nearest sub-ward.
Firefighters from Egmore, Washermenpet, Thiyagarayanagar, Ashoknagar and Tiruvallikeni stations rushed to the spot and put out the fire. Firefighters sprayed water and began to contain the blaze. At the same time, they broke the windows and put out the fire as the cane started to come out in large quantities.
After hearing about the fire, Ministers Ma Subramanian, Sekarbapu, Medical-People’s Welfare Principal Secretary Dr. J. At 5.30pm the cane exit stopped and the fire was brought under complete control.
