The class action against Strauss comes after the Ministry of Health also found salmonella in finished products that have already been marketed to the public and not just in a product line that has not yet been marketed. The company initially stated that they were not aware of any cases in which consumers had fallen ill or been injured, but that the three plaintiffs for their part claimed to have experienced diarrhea and vomiting.

In the class action lawsuit, the three claimed that Strauss, the largest food company in Israel, “acted negligently because it knew about the presence of the salmonella bacterium for a week before performing the recall, during Passover.” They further claimed that in order not to harm the volume of sales, she waited until the recall notice, at the expense of his alleged health.
