Bangalore:Commenting on the success of KGF2, Kannada actor Sudeep said, “Kannada film is said to have been shot all over India. Needless to say, Hindi is not our national language. Films shot in Bollywood are released in Telugu and Tamil. They are fighting to win. But the film made in Kannada is running successfully everywhere. ”
Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn tweeted, “If Hindi is not the national language, then why are you dubbing and releasing your mother tongue films in Hindi? Hindi will always be our mother tongue and national language. ”
Sudeep replied, “We learned and loved India. But what would be your situation if I answered your question in Kannada? Aren’t we from India too? ” That raised the question.
This post caused a great deal of controversy on Twitter. Following this, Ajay Devgan said, “Thank you for correcting the misunderstanding. I always think of the film industry as one. We respect all languages and expect everyone to respect our language. ” With this the controversy has come to an end.
Former Chief Minister Chidramaiah and Chief Minister Basavaraj Pomma have spoken in support of actor Sudeep on the Hindi language issue.
Meanwhile, Devgan and members of the Karnataka Raksha Vedic Organization staged a protest against the Hindi language in Mysore Bank Square in Bangalore yesterday.
