TGL Season 2 Set to Tee Off with Elevated Expectations and New Matchups
The Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy-backed TGL, a tech-forward golf league, is poised to launch its second season before the start of 2026, building on the momentum of a prosperous inaugural run and promising an even more compelling experience for fans. The league, featuring six teams and a 15-match regular season, will once again be hosted at the SoFi Center in Palm beach Gardens, Florida, utilizing the same broadcast windows as its first year.
While the core structure remains consistent, the upcoming season isn’t without changes. according to league officials, the popular Presidents Day triple header – a highlight of the 2025 season filled with dramatic moments – will not return this year.Tho, a new marquee matchup has been added to the schedule: a Sunday evening contest on March 1 at 9 p.m. ET between Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf, coinciding with the final day of the nearby PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic.
The 2026 season will kick off with a rematch of the 2025 final, pitting the reigning champion Atlanta Drive – comprised of Patrick cantlay, Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel, and Lucas Glover – against New York Golf Club. New York, eager for redemption, will field a formidable lineup featuring Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, and Matt Fitzpatrick.
Other notable matchups include a Friday night showdown between Boston and Los Angeles on January 2 at 7 p.m.,marking the league’s only Friday contest. The majority of regular season duels will be held on Monday or Tuesday evenings, with the postseason scheduled to follow immediately after The Players Championship. Notably, TGL has strategically chosen to avoid direct competition with The players Championship itself, opting to commence its playoff run two weeks following the tournament at TPC Sawgrass. The league’s championship will conclude before the start of major championship season in April.
