Pakistan Partners with Stacks to Build a Next-Generation Crypto ecosystem
Pakistan is embarking on an ambitious plan to integrate blockchain technology into its economy, partnering with Stacks, a leading Bitcoin Layer 2 solution, to foster talent, innovation, adn real-world applications. During the United Nations general Assembly week, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Finance Minister, engaged in extensive discussions with Dr. muneeb Ali, Founder of Stacks, alongside representatives from Stacks Asia Foundation, Monarq Asset Management, KTrade, and OKX. These meetings centered on pakistan’s evolving crypto strategy and potential areas of collaboration with Stacks.
Recognizing the transformative potential of blockchain, the Government of Pakistan is actively seeking guidance from industry leaders like Dr. Ali and Stacks. The partnership will focus on developing compliant infrastructure for stablecoins, remittances, and Know Your Customer (KYC) solutions, leveraging the Stacks blockchain.

Stacks aims to cultivate the next generation of crypto adoption in Pakistan, capitalizing on the country’s eagerness to collaborate with global projects and nurture a skilled workforce.This collaboration will prioritize initiatives in three key areas:
- developer Education: Collaborating with institutions like the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to integrate blockchain curriculum, mentorship programs, and guest lectures.
- Student Engagement: Facilitating national hackathons, local Stacks builder events, and connections to international mentors and investors.
- Incubating Local Use cases: Focusing on blockchain applications tailored to Pakistan’s specific needs, including remittances, payments, microfinance, supply chain management, and record-keeping.
