A female employee was hospitalized with injuries to her fingers after her hand became trapped in a sugar cane machine at the Clementi 448 Market and Food Center on the evening of October 10th. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the emergency call received at approximately 6:50 PM, arriving at Block 448 Clementi Avenue 3.
Complex Rescue Operation Undertaken by SCDF
Firefighters and rescue specialists from the SCDF’s Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) worked swiftly to free the woman’s hand. A paramedic on scene administered pain-relief medication and closely monitored the individual’s vital signs throughout the delicate operation.According to the SCDF,an emergency medical team from Ng Teng Fong General Hospital was also present to provide additional medical support.
“Firefighters and rescue specialists from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team carried out the rescue together with an SCDF paramedic, who administered pain-relief medication and monitored the person’s vital signs throughout the operation,” a spokesperson for the SCDF stated.

She is currently receiving treatment at a hospital for injuries affecting three of her fingers.Following the triumphant release of her hand from the machinery,the woman was transported to National University Hospital for further care.
