Chandigarh Hosts Inaugural Women’s Badminton Championships, Champions Crowned Across age Groups

The frist women’s Badminton Championships for Non-Professional women concluded in Chandigarh, showcasing remarkable athletic talent and a commitment to female participation in sports. The event,held at the Sector 38 Sports Complex,saw champions crowned in four age categories – 30+,40+,50+,and 60+ – and underscored the growing momentum of the ‘Fit India’ movement.

Ruchi Kapoor secured the top position in the women’s 30+ years category, defeating Anshu Payal in a compelling final match. Kapoor recorded a decisive 21-16 victory, demonstrating her skill and determination. Deepika Sharma and Amita Sharma jointly claimed the third position in this highly competitive bracket.
Veteran Players Shine in Older Age Groups
The championships also celebrated the achievements of veteran athletes. saroj Meena dominated the women’s 40+ years event, achieving a commanding 21-7 win over Monika. Seema Sharma and Geeta shared the third position.
In a closely contested women’s 50+ years final, Surinder Kaur overcame a tough challenge from seema Sharma, ultimately securing the title with a 21-17 win. Asha and harminder Kaur were recognized for their performance, jointly taking the third position.
The women’s 60+ years final saw Bnalwainder kaur defeat Asha sharma with a score of 21-12. Kamaljit Kaur and Santosh Rani earned a joint third-place finish.
