Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister Antony Raju has said that the permits of vehicles used for criminal activities and the driving licenses of persons traveling in those vehicles will be revoked. Currently, licenses and permits are revoked only for offenses under the Motor Vehicle Act. But the new decision comes at a time when crime with vehicles is on the rise.

Elegant cards will be issued in May to replace the current driving license card issued in the state. The minister said special drives would be organized in the next three months to crack down on the use of mobile phones while driving, two-wheelers without helmets and those without seat belts.
