On April 15, 2002, around 1:00 PM, a report was received at the Haifa Police Center 100 that a 15-year-old man intended to carry out an attack in Jerusalem. Many police forces began searching for the suspect. A stabbing incident in the memorial garden in Haifa.
The patrol team that was with the father responded immediately to the scene of the incident in the memorial garden. A patrol woman who noticed the suspect with the knife in her hand and arrested the suspect on the spot, when a file belonging to the suspect was found nearby and in which two additional knives were found that the Knesset intended to use.
As a result of the stabbing, a 47-year-old city resident was slightly to moderately injured (according to medical sources) and is being treated at Rambam Hospital in the city.
Many police forces under the command of the commander of the Carmel area – Deputy Chief of Staff Eli Magen, arrived at the scene of the incident and began collecting findings at the scene. The investigation into the incident was entrusted to the Crime Fighting Unit (ILP) of the Carmel area.
The investigation of the incident shows that the suspect left her house that morning armed with a number of knives and when she arrived at the memorial garden in Haifa she searched for a victim, when the suspect noticed the victim, she threw an interlocking stone in his head, he fell to the ground.
During her interrogation, the suspect stated that she committed the act under the influence of social networks and that she wanted to carry out the attack in order to die with the handle.
The suspect’s detention was extended from time to time and yesterday, Thursday, the Haifa District Attorney’s Office filed a prosecutor’s statement against the suspect when in the coming days an indictment will be filed against her and a request for her detention until the end of the proceedings.
The Israel Police considers the involvement of Israeli citizens in terrorism to be very serious, so we will continue to take all the measures available to us in order to thwart the threat and exhaust the law severely with those involved in these events.
