Arlington Fire, AMR, and Medical City Launch Pioneering Whole Blood Program
A groundbreaking initiative bringing hospital-level care to the field, the Arlington Fire Department, AMR Arlington, and Medical City Arlington have jointly launched a Whole Blood Program designed to dramatically improve outcomes for patients experiencing severe trauma or significant blood loss.
The Arlington EMS system is taking a significant leap forward in pre-hospital emergency care with the implementation of this program, which equips first responders with the ability to carry and administer whole blood directly at the scene. This represents a critical advancement in stabilizing patients before they reach definitive care.
“This program represents another way we continue advancing life-saving care for our community,” stated Bret Stidham, Fire Chief of the Arlington Fire Department. “Our partnership with AMR Arlington and Medical City Arlington ensures that when seconds matter most, our patients receive the best care possible.”
The Whole Blood Program is poised to have a substantial impact on critically injured patients in Arlington, Texas. By bringing essential resources directly to the point of injury, the program bypasses crucial time delays inherent in traditional emergency response protocols. This swift intervention is expected to significantly improve survival rates and reduce long-term complications.
The collaboration between these three key organizations underscores a commitment to innovation and a shared vision for delivering the highest quality emergency medical services to the Arlington community. The program’s success will likely serve as a model for other municipalities seeking to enhance their pre-hospital care capabilities.
