Maite Kelly Reveals Intimate New Song, “The Morning After,” at “Hit Boom 2025”
A deeply personal and surprisingly explicit new song from singer Maite Kelly is set to be the talk of Saturday evening’s “Hit Boom 2025” show. The track, titled “The Morning After,” details a passionate night of love and appears to be largely autobiographical, marking a significant departure for the 44-year-old artist.
The song, which will be performed on Florian Silbereisen’s show, explores themes of intimacy with a frankness rarely seen from Kelly. Described as detailing a nighttime encounter beginning with a taxi ride and culminating in “empty champagne bottles and rummaged sheets,” the lyrics are notably direct. The chorus, “You’re lying next to me, what have we done? You took me to heaven three times / What a night,” showcases this newfound openness.
According to reports, Kelly herself acknowledges the song’s personal connection. “Not all the songs I write are autobiographical – with this one I can’t deny it,” she stated in a recent interview. She further explained that the song is a celebration of femininity and the power of desire, stating, “It’s a tribute to the power of imagination and the hidden desires that perhaps every woman has.”
Performing such a vulnerable song presents a challenge for the experienced entertainer. “Ten years ago I wouldn’t have had this courage,” Kelly admitted. “Because writing a song like that is one thing – it’s another to sing it in front of an audience of millions.” However, she emphasizes the importance of liberation through her music, asserting that women have a “damned soul’s right to sensuality.”
Beyond the new single, Kelly also shared her perspective on maintaining passion in long-term relationships. She noted that while she has been fortunate to experience lasting connection, eroticism extends beyond physical intimacy. “Eroticism has an incredible number of levels – and for women it takes place first in the head,” she explained.
“Hit Boom 2025,” taking place this Saturday under the theme “Everything sparkles! Everything glitters!” at Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle, will feature performances by Andrea Berg, Roland Kaiser, Unheil, the No Angels, and Thomas Anders, alongside Kelly. The show will be broadcast live on Erste at 8:15 p.m. This performance promises to be a defining moment in Kelly’s career, showcasing a new level of artistic vulnerability and self-expression.
