விழுப்புரம்: Goats were sold for Rs 10 crore at the Ginger and Krishnagiri weekly markets during Ramadan.

Around Ginger is a hilly area covering grazing lands. As the quality of the meat here is high, it is customary for traders from many parts of the country to come to Ginger and buy goats.

On the eve of Ramadan, a crowd of traders waved at the Ginger Market early yesterday morning.

A sheep (15 kg) sold for Rs 6,000 last week and up to Rs 11,000 yesterday. Other types of goats, including goats, were sold for between Rs 6,000 and Rs 10,000. Goats worth Rs 6 crore were reportedly sold at the Red Market yesterday.

Similarly, goat sales at the Kundarapalli weekly market near Krishnagiri were higher than usual yesterday. 10 thousand sheep were brought for sale.

A goat weighing 10 kg sold for between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 15,000. The goats were sold for Rs 3.5 crore in a single day yesterday, traders said.
