LE SSERAFIM Faces Backlash as Party Photos Spark Fan Conduct Debate
A recent surge of images from the W Korea “Love Your W” party has ignited controversy surrounding K-pop group LE SSERAFIM and the behavior of some members of their fanbase. Initially lauded for their perceived modesty at the event – which was intended to raise awareness for breast cancer – the group and its supporters are now facing criticism for alleged hypocrisy and online harassment directed toward other artists.
The “Love Your W” party gained notoriety due to its perceived inappropriate atmosphere, despite its charitable purpose. In the immediate aftermath, LE SSERAFIM members Chaewon and Kazuha received praise for reportedly departing the event early and wearing conservative outfits. Many online commended their actions as maintaining a “respectful image,” contrasting them with other attendees. One fan expressed gratitude on X (formerly Twitter) stating, “I’m honestly so grateful to LE SSERAFIM’s stylists for not putting them in revealing outfits at the breast cancer awareness event. Thank God 😭. I’m also really happy that Chaewon and Kazuha just ate and left right after.”

However, the narrative shifted with the release of additional photos on October 15 and 16, 2025. These images depict Chaewon and Kazuha enjoying the party, holding drinks, and singing along to performances. This sparked a backlash, particularly directed at fans who had previously used the group’s perceived “respectful” behavior to criticize others.
A post gaining traction on the online forum Theqoo highlighted the perceived hypocrisy, with many praising the duo’s appearance despite their “winter outfits.”

The controversy escalated with accusations leveled against a segment of LE SSERAFIM’s fanbase, specifically middle-aged male fans, for engaging in online harassment and attempting to leverage the situation to improve the group’s image. According to a viral post circulating on Pann, “They’re trying to use this controversy as an opportunity to raise their group’s image, desperately pushing their agenda. They’re filled with greed.” The post further criticized the fans for focusing on LE SSERAFIM while largely ignoring the role of W Korea in organizing the event and its overall concept.
Netizens widely agreed that the behavior of these fans – allegedly using LE SSERAFIM’s attendance to attack other idols – was unacceptable and damaging to the HYBE girl group’s reputation. One commenter stated, “LE SSERAFIM fanboys’ brains are literally built on hypocrisy. They say LE SSERAFIM are kind, but call every other girl group bad. Something’s seriously wrong with them mentally.” Another expressed disgust, claiming, “It’s disgusting how those male fans are using breast cancer patients for reverse viral marketing.”
The situation underscores the complex dynamics between K-pop groups, their fanbases, and the potential for online behavior to impact public perception. The incident serves as a stark reminder that perceived virtue signaling can quickly backfire, and that the actions of even a small segment of a fanbase can have significant repercussions for the artists they support.
