At noon (Friday), the chairman of Torah Judaism, MK Moshe Gafni, attacked the intention of retired Supreme Court Vice President Eliakim Rubinstein to participate in Rabbi Ayar at an event of the Reform and Conservative movements at the Western Wall.
“Retired Judge Eliakim Rubinstein has revealed his paws and intends to participate in the provocative event and undermine the Torah of Israel, which confirms our claims about his positions throughout the years when he was in a judicial position,” Gafni said.
As reported earlier today, the World Zionist Organization intends to hold a mixed event in the southern plaza of the Western Wall, in cooperation with the Reform and Conservative movements – and to provoke a provocation in the holy place of the Jewish people.
The event is expected to take place on Sunday, Rosh Chodesh Iyar, under the title “The Declaration of Independence Reaches the Western Wall.” Whoever is expected to be the keynote speaker is retired Supreme Court Justice Eliakim Rubinstein.
Rubinstein’s expected participation provoked outrage, in light of claims that the southern extension was built illegally and without proper permits.
It was also argued that the issue of the outline of the Western Wall and the future of the southern extension is currently being discussed in the High Court. In the High Court hearings, Rubinstein himself served as a judge and his participation in the reform event is now a kind of personal and inappropriate decision on the controversial issue.
In a letter sent to Rubinstein by the LIBA Center, it was argued: “Infringement of the sanctity of the Western Wall, the Chief Rabbinate, the Jewish character of the state and the feelings of millions of Jews, and gives a public seal to the attempt of a minority to impose its opinion on the majority of the people in devious and even illegal ways.”
A letter sent by Libya Center Director General Oren Henig to Judge Rubinstein further stated: ” Of a representative of the judicial system at an official event on the spot – constitutes the awarding of a reward for the crime according to which a hired sinner came out. “
