Sinner Resolute to Retain ‘Second Father’ Cahill as Coach Beyond 2025
World No. 2 Jannik Sinner is prioritizing a conversation with coach Darren Cahill, aiming to extend their successful partnership beyond its planned conclusion at the end of 2025, even as he prepares for the Erste Bank Open in Vienna.
The 24-year-old Sinner acknowledges that securing Cahill’s continued guidance may prove to be one of his most significant challenges in the coming months, requiring a persuasive dialog rather than a competitive match. as he gears up for his Vienna campaign, Sinner is resolute in his desire to convince Cahill to remain in his corner.
“We haven’t talked yet, to be honest,” Sinner told ATP Media on Monday. “We said we are going to finish the year, and than we might ask him for a long chat, trying to convince him. But in any case, if he stays or not, he has been an amazing person and obviously a coach for me to hold the whole team together in the tough moments.”

He’s been critically important as I see the effort he puts in, working with a 24 year old kid flying all over the world and putting in a lot of effort.He has family, he has many, many important things to do also off the court and managing this and always putting me basically in the first place, it has been amazing and I’m very sure we can, we can make something very positive.”
Sinner is looking to quickly rebound from a recent retirement in the third round of his title defense in Shanghai.
