The Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department will begin the investigation into the Tanjore chariot accident today.
Eleven people have been killed and 14 others injured in a power outage caused by a power outage during the early morning Chithirai festival in Kalimedu village near Thanjavur on the 27th. Prime Minister Modi, the Chief Minister and many others expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and also announced relief assistance to them by the Central and State Governments.
Following this, Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji had announced in the Assembly that a one-man inquiry committee would be set up to probe into the Tanjore chariot accident. Revenue Secretary Kumar Jayant had said that a one-person committee headed by the IAS would be set up. The one-man inquiry team said the cause of the accident would be investigated and steps would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
