Mumbai: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has clarified her stance on whether Hindi is the national language or not. Kangana Ranaut said that the national language is not Hindi or South Indian language and it deserves to be Sanskrit. Kangana Ranaut added that the oldest language is Sanskrit and that is why he comments on it. Kangana Ranaut was responding to a media report on a dispute between actors Ajay Devgn and Kicha Sudeep over Hindi. Kangana Ranaut added that the comments of the two were not wrong.
Our country is full of diversity. We should be proud of all languages and cultures. You need something in common to bring it all together. This must be why Hindi became the national language when the Constitution was made.
“Tamil is older than Hindi, so Sanskrit should be the national language. In my opinion, Tamil, Kannada, Sanskrit and Gujarati are all derived from Sanskrit. But I also include Sudeep’s sentimentality and I can not go wrong with what he said, how can Kannada and Tamil be wrong if they are older than Hindi.
“This South Indian-North Indian dialogue is unfortunate,” Kangana said.
Kicha Sudeepa said yesterday that Hindi is not a national language. In reply, Ajay Devgn asked why you are translating your new film into Hindi. Many people came forward with their views on this controversy. Former Karnataka Chief Minister Kumaraswamy tweeted that Kicha Sudeep’s statement was not wrong and was 100% correct. He said that Ajay Devgn’s argument was ridiculous. Congress leaders DK Sivakumar and Siddaramaiah also agreed.
In an interview to Karnataka Tak news channel, Sudeepa said that Hindi is not the national language when asked about films like KGF and Pushpa gaining international attention. He had asked why Hindi films were not called Pan Indian films and which film got a good response from their audience today.
Ajay Devgn responded by tweeting in Hindi. He said that Hindi will always be our mother tongue and national language. Sudeepa also said that she did not try to provoke any kind of controversy as she would give what she really meant in person.
