Jayalalithaa’s aide on 2nd day interrogation- Dinamani

Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s aide Poonkunran has been questioned by the personal police for the second day in connection with the Kodanadu murder and robbery case.

The investigation into the Kodanadu murder and robbery case, which has been going on for the last 5 years, is now intensifying.

Recently, Jayalalithaa’s friend VK Sasikala was interrogated for two days.

Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s aide Poonkunran was interrogated by private police at the Coimbatore Police Training School premises for more than six hours yesterday. Continuing, the trial continues today for the 2nd day.

Poonkunran has been Jayalalithaa’s direct assistant for more than 15 years and has maintained the documents at the Kodanadu estate.

Kodanadu case

There is a tea estate and a bungalow in Kodanad near Kotagiri in the Nilgiris district, owned by the late former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. On April 24, 2017, Om Bahadur, a security guard on night duty, was killed by a mob who entered the estate and looted his belongings and documents.

Police have registered a case against Bala, including Kanagaraj, a resident of Edappadi, Salem district, who was driving Jayalalithaa’s car in connection with the incident. Kanagaraj was killed in a road accident at Chandanagiri near Attu in Salem district a few days after the incident.

With 103 nabs in the trial ring in this case, more than 40 re-investigations have been completed. 3 special forces have been set up to intensify the investigation in this case which has been under investigation for 5 years. Investigations are underway in districts including Coimbatore, Salem and Nilgiris.

VK Sasikala, his nephew Vivek, former MLA VC Arukutty and AIADMK-affiliated timber trader Sajeevan were recently questioned by the police.
