Gas cylinders and matches stored in large quantities in Jaffna have been recovered by the Consumer Affairs Authority.
The raid was carried out by the Consumer Affairs Authority on Friday based on a complaint regarding gas received from a consumer in the Jaffna District.
In this case, the gas cylinders, which had been hoarded for sale at a trade center at exorbitant prices, were seized with the help of the police and handed over to consumers at the correct price.
A case was registered against the trader as well.
The Consumer Affairs Authority has also informed the traders that legal action will be taken against those who engage in activities such as selling and hoarding gas at exorbitant prices.
