Georgina Chapman Faces Foreclosure on $2.5 Million New York City Home
A legal notice indicates fashion designer Georgina Chapman, formerly married to convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein, is at risk of losing her New York City residence. The foreclosure proceedings, initiated on October 15, stem from a $2.5 million mortgage debt, according to legal documents obtained by Page Six.
Chapman was officially notified that she was “in danger of losing your home,” and warned of potential legal repercussions if she fails to respond to the summons and complaint. The notice explicitly states that a “default judgment may be entered” resulting in the loss of the property if a formal answer isn’t filed with the court and the mortgage company’s attorney.
The complaint alleges that Chapman, along with her brother Edward Chapman, is indebted to CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC for the full $2.5 million amount. The siblings reportedly “executed a note to secure that sum” in March 2022, agreeing to monthly payments of $9,114.58 extending until February 2052.
However, the mortgage company claims that a default occurred in November 2024, with the Chapmans allegedly “failing to comply with the conditions of the mortgage” by not fulfilling obligations related to principal, interest, taxes, insurance, and other associated charges.
In addition to the outstanding $2.5 million, the complaint seeks recovery of “late charges and advances” and “any other charges due.” Should a foreclosure sale not fully cover the debt, the mortgage company is requesting the court order Chapman and her brother to cover the remaining “deficiency.”
Representatives for Chapman have been contacted for comment but have not yet responded.
The situation unfolds seven years after Chapman separated from Weinstein in 2017, following widespread allegations of sexual misconduct against the former movie producer. Dozens of women publicly accused Weinstein of abuse, leading to his eventual conviction and imprisonment.
Page Six previously reported that Chapman and Weinstein finalized their divorce in 2021. Since then, the Marchesa co-founder has reportedly moved on and is in a relationship with actor Adrien Brody.
Chapman initially filed for divorce from Weinstein in 2017 amid the mounting accusations of sexual misconduct. The unfolding foreclosure proceedings represent a new chapter in the designer’s life as she navigates the aftermath of a highly publicized and difficult personal history.
