Karipur: Customs officials seized gold worth Rs 3.28 crore at the Kozhikode airport after the couple tried to smuggle it in their bodies and clothes. Abdus Samad (47) and his wife Safna (34) were arrested from Kuttikodan house, Perinthalmanna, Aminikkadu, Malappuram. 3642 grams of gold alloy was recovered from Safna.
3672 g of mixture was recovered from Abdu Samad. The body weighed 1.17 kilograms and the rest was hidden inside socks and underwear. 3.141 kg of gold was extracted from this alloy. It has a market cap of Rs 1.65 crore, customs said.
