Tre Ranked as Sweden’s Least Satisfying Mobile Operator, Customer Loyalty Plummets
A new survey reveals growing dissatisfaction with mobile providers in Sweden, with Tre – serving approximately 2.8 million customers – landing at the bottom of the rankings. The findings underscore a significant shift in consumer priorities, moving beyond basic service quality to encompass overall experience.
Declining Customer Satisfaction Across the Board
Overall customer satisfaction among Swedish private mobile users has decreased noticeably, falling from a rating of 68.7 to 66.5, according to the latest report from the Swedish Quality Index (SKI). This decline signals a broader trend of increasing consumer expectations and a willingness to switch providers in search of better value.
Tre Struggles to Retain Customers
The SKI index assigns a score of 61.5 to Tre, placing it well below the critical threshold of 75, which indicates a strong company-customer relationship. A score below 60 suggests a company faces significant challenges in retaining its customer base. This indicates that Tre is struggling to meet evolving consumer demands.
Smaller Operators Lead in Customer Experience
In stark contrast to Tre’s performance, smaller mobile operators Vimla (82.5) and Fello (81.7) have achieved the highest customer satisfaction ratings. According to Johan Parmler, CEO of the Swedish Quality Index, these companies are succeeding by focusing on factors beyond traditional network performance.
“Customers today have a different behavior than before,” Parmler stated. “Customers look beyond the basics and value operators who are transparent, flexible and easy to deal with. They don’t want to feel locked into long contracts or pay for services they don’t use.”
The Rise of the Experience Economy in Mobile
The survey highlights a fundamental shift in what Swedish consumers prioritize when choosing a mobile operator. While technical quality and coverage remain important, customers are increasingly valuing factors such as pricing transparency, flexible subscription options, and personalized customer service. This trend reflects a broader “experience economy,” where consumers are willing to pay a premium for companies that deliver exceptional and convenient experiences.
