A nationwide push for health and ethical governance culminated in a vibrant community event as NLC India Limited (NLCIL) successfully concluded the 6th Fit India Freedom Run on October 31, 2025, in Navelli. The event, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement launched in 2019 and spearheaded by Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy, drew over 4,200 participants and underscored the importance of a healthy lifestyle, cleanliness, and unity.

Did you know? – The Fit India Movement aims to build a new India that is fitter, healthier, and more active. It encourages citizens of all ages to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.

Embracing a Holistic Approach to Wellbeing

The fit India Freedom Run, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports, aims to integrate physical activity into the daily routines of citizens across India. NLCIL has embraced this national vision, hosting the event annually to bolster the health, wellbeing, and social cohesion of its employees and the surrounding Navelli community. This year’s run carried the theme “Swachchhta and Swasthya (Cleanliness and Health),” highlighting the crucial link between personal health and environmental obligation.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NLCIL, alongside the Additional Director of Mines and the Additional Director General of CISF. According to a company release, Motupalli emphasized that achieving India’s ambitious “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) goal by 2047 hinges on the physical and mental resilience of its youth.

“India must transform itself from one of the youngest countries in the world to one of the healthiest and strongest,” Motupalli stated. He further stressed that realizing NLCIL’s objectives – tripling power generation capacity and increasing renewable energy sevenfold – requires a commitment to health as a fundamental way of life. “Health is true wealth,” he reiterated, urging all attendees to prioritize wellness.

Pro tip: – Incorporate small bursts of activity throughout your day. Taking the stairs, walking during lunch breaks,or stretching can significantly improve your overall health.

Strengthening Ethical Governance Through Collective Action

Beyond promoting physical health, the event also served as a platform to reinforce ethical conduct. As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, NLCIL integrated a walkathon with the Fit India Freedom Run 6.0 to raise awareness about integrity and anti-corruption. This initiative strengthened the institution’s dedication to fostering a corruption-free culture under the theme “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility.”

The walkathon, launched from the Bharati Stadium, featured a placard contest where participants creatively conveyed messages promoting vigilance, ethics, and transparency. Participants then symbolically reaffirmed their commitment to honesty and integrity by signing a “Signature Wall.”

Community Engagement and Broad Participation

The 3 km Fit India Freedom Run and Walkathon resonated deeply within the Navelli community, attracting a diverse range of participants. Over 2,200 students from 15 local schools joined staff, contract workers, Indcoserve personnel, and approximately 2,000 members of the public, demonstrating a strong sense of community spirit.

A senior official noted the enthusiastic participation and teamwork that contributed to the event’s success.

Reader question: – How can organizations better integrate health and ethical awareness initiatives into their regular operations, beyond annual events?
