Korean Man Claiming World’s Highest IQ seeks Asylum in US, Citing Religious and Political Persecution
A man identified as having the world’s highest IQ has applied for asylum in the United States, alleging religious and political persecution in South Korea under the current government. The case has ignited controversy and drawn attention to concerns about religious freedom within the country.
Kim Young-hoon, who reportedly achieved an IQ of 276, was officially recognized as possessing the highest recorded IQ at last year’s ‘World Memory Competition.’ He is also certified by the Korea Record Institute as the highest IQ record holder and is the sole Korean member of Mega Society, an exclusive organization for individuals wiht exceptionally high intelligence.
According to reports, Kim recently voiced strong criticism of the South Korean government on social media, stating, “As a Christian and the holder of the world’s highest IQ record, I can no longer stay in South Korea, where biblical truth and freedom of religion are suppressed under a pro-North Korea leftist government.” he further claimed,”There is no longer South Korea. There is only North Korea, because the South Korean government has become pro-North Korea,” leading him to seek asylum under former President Trump, citing “political and religious persecution.”
Kim expressed fears of imprisonment, stating, “Like other Christian pastors imprisoned by the Korean government, I will soon be sent to prison,” and asserting that “Faith and freedom are threatened in Korea.” His claims of “religious persecution” appear to stem from the recent arrest of senior pastor Son Hyun-bo of Busan Segye Road Church. Pastor Son faces charges related to violations of the Public Official Election Act and the Local Education autonomy Act, accused of conducting an illegal election campaign by advocating for a specific candidate during church services and prayer meetings in May.
South Korean law currently prohibits religious groups from engaging in electioneering, a measure intended to prevent undue political influence. Though, the arrest has sparked protests from some opposition figures and far-right religious circles, who argue that it represents a suppression of religious freedom. Far-right lawyer Park Joo-hyun,for example,argued on a YouTube broadcast,”Religious oppression is taking place.We need to inform President Trump of the situation through Truth Social.”
Currently, Kim is pursuing a master’s degree in theology at an American theological school accredited by the Association of American Theological Schools.
