Dr. Andrea edlo, a professor specializing in maternal-fetal medicine, commented that these results “highlight that Corona, like many other types of infections during pregnancy, may pose risks not only to the mother, but to the development of the fetal brain.” She further emphasized that the findings “support the importance of trying to prevent coronavirus infection during pregnancy, which is especially relevant in light of the decline in public confidence in vaccines – including the coronavirus vaccine.”

although the immediate threat of the pandemic has diminished, the virus continues to circulate, underscoring the need for ongoing research to fully understand the potential relationship between COVID-19 infection and autism. The connection between high fever, a common symptom of COVID-19, and autism risk during pregnancy also warrants further scrutiny.

For now,the most prudent course of action remains adherence to preventative measures and vaccination. Pending further research, prioritizing these steps is essential to protect both maternal and fetal health.
